چکیده

Dynamic dam-foundation interaction is great important in the design and safety assessment of dam structures. Two classic boundary conditions, i.e., viscous-spring viscous boundary, are employed to consider radiation damping unbounded rock foundation. The input models seismic excitation derived. accuracy two conditions dynamic analysis foundation verified through using an impulsive load. influences their earthquake on Pine Flat Jin’anqiao gravity dam-foundation-reservoir systems then investigated. results displacements, hydrodynamic pressure, principal stresses show that agreement between good. relative errors dams both less than 5%. They acceptable from engineering point view.

The effect of earthquake frequency content and soil structure interaction on the seismic behavior of concrete gravity dam-foundation-reservoir system

The effect of frequency content on the dynamic response of concrete gravity dams is investigated in this paper. Dams are one of the most complex structures to handle when there is dynamic analysis involved. One of the influential parameters on these structureschr('39') seismic response is the frequency content of the earthquakes. An index to represent frequency content, which represents frequen...

Effect of Seismic wave scattering on the Response of Dam-Reservoir-Foundation Systems

Traditionally the foundation in a dam is modeled by a sub-structuring approach for the purpose of seismic performance analysis. The main disadvantage of sub-structuring approach is that it cannot be used for solving nonlinear dynamic problems. Therefore, in that case seismic response analysis must be carried out in time domain. Among the different earthquake input mechanisms the deconvolved ear...

Sensitivity analysis of dynamic response of dam-reservoir-foundation system due to foundation material

The present study investigate the effects of mechanical properties of the rock layers in the foundation of concrete gravity dam on the seismic response of gravity dam–reservoir –foundation systems. The mutual effects of different domains are considered in the present research. As a case study the biggest section of Shafarud dam in the north of Iran is modeled two dimensionally using ABAQUS soft...
